Top management takes the initiative in realizing the spirit of these guidelines, thoroughly implements them within the company, and disseminates them to subsidiaries and affiliates. In addition, top management constantly monitors internal and external opinions, develops effective internal systems, and thoroughly enforces corporate ethics.

In the event of a situation that violates these guidelines, top management will work to resolve the problem by themselves, investigate the cause, and prevent recurrence. In addition, top management will promptly and accurately disclose information to society, fulfill their accountability, and take strict actions, including those against themselves.

Basic Policy to Prevent Bribery of Foreign Public Officials, etc.

All officers and employees of our company shall comply with the Unfair Competition Prevention Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of the United States, the Bribery Act of the United Kingdom, and anti-corruption laws of other countries (hereinafter collectively referred to as “anti-corruption laws”).

We do not provide, promise to provide, or offer to provide, directly or indirectly, any money, etc. to foreign public officials, for the purpose of acquiring or maintaining business, or for the purpose of having them provide benefits to the JR East Group.

We conduct our business activities legally and properly in foreign countries, and accurately record and properly store the details and purposes of transactions in each business activity.

If we suspect a violation of the anti-corruption laws or this Basic Policy, we will promptly report it to the relevant parties within the company.

Definitions of Terms

What does “foreign public officials, etc.” mean? - Persons who hold a legislative, administrative, or judicial position in a foreign country
- Persons who carry out official duties for a foreign country, such as employees of a foreign public institution
- Persons who carry out official duties for a foreign country, such as employees of a public corporation, and
- Officials or fiduciaries of public international organizations

What does “money, etc.” mean? This refers to money, securities, gifts, donations, travel, treatment, and any other benefits or advantages that violate the anti-corruption laws or regulations of JR East Group companies, and includes so-called “facilitation payments” (payments for the purpose of facilitating and expediting routine administrative procedures).

Initiatives for Respect for human Rights

We, the JR East Rail Car Technology & Maintenance Group, conduct business activities that respect human rights by understanding and implementing the JR East Group Basic Policy on Human Rights.

The “JR East Group Basic Policy on Human Rights" has been issued and posted on the JR East website. The JR East Rail Car Technology & Maintenance Group, as a member of the JR East Group, will make the following efforts.

All officers and employees of the JR East Rail Car Technology & Maintenance Group will understand and act in accordance with the JR East Group Basic Policy on Human Rights. We will also seek understanding and support from our cooperative companies and work together to respect human rights. We will publish this effort in JR East Rail Car Technology & Maintenance's employee magazine "Habataku" to deepen our commitment to this cause.
